10 Weeks Pregnant

In the 10th week of your pregnancy your baby's vital organs have been developed and are starting to work together. Brain growth is growing rapidly at around 250,000 new neurons every minute in your baby’s brain. The separating of fingers and toes begin while internal developments begin. The liver, kidney, brain, lungs and intestines are starting to function and will continue developing throughout. Tooth buds start to form and if you're having a boy he will start producing the male hormone testosterone now. Your baby at this state is officially called a fetus. Everyday more begins to develop such as peach fuzz hair, toenails and fingernails. The baby’s elbows can move, her legs are growing and spinal nerves are now beginning to stretch out from the spinal cord.

















The 10 Week Visit

At your doctor's visit it's time to hear your baby's heartbeat for the first time. For many this is the most exciting part of the first trimester. The doctor will exam your breasts, blood pressure, weight, urine and the position and size of your uterus. You may be given a blood test to ensure your protected against mumps, measles, rubella and varicella. Also to determine what your blood type is and if you have Rh factor. If you don’t but the baby is positive, it could pose problems when the baby’s blood cells enter yours. This can be remedy by getting a vaccine of Rh immune globulin at 28 weeks and then again after delivery.

Staying in Shape - 10 Weeks

Swimming and or walking are two good exercises that help with endurance, muscle tone and strength. Exercising can also help with the physical stress of giving birth and getting back into shape after. Yoga is also suggested to be very helpful in being prepared for giving birth but some poses are a no no. Do not do any poses that could cut the blood flow off to the uterus. Avoid poses that require you to stretch the abnormal muscles and make sure you to listen your body. If you feel any discomfort, stop and do not do that pose again.
