11 Weeks Pregnant
At 11 weeks you may start to experience excess salvia. Weight gain is important
to accommodate the baby's weight, increase blood volume, the placenta, the
amniotic fluid. The average weight gain for the whole pregnancy is 25-35
pounds. Your appetite might pick up as nauseated feeling may decreased. The
average weight gain in 1-2 pounds per week. It's a good idea to drink plenty of
fluids but decrease the amount of soft drinks. Your veins may become more
noticeable in your breasts, abdomen and legs such the blood volume is
increased. By the end of this week your uterus will become the size of a
grapefruit.
The Baby At 11 Weeks
The baby's blood vessels in placenta increase in number and size to provide the
baby with nutrients. Bones are starting to harden and the tiny tooth buds are
starting to form under the gums. Currently the baby's skin is transparent and
the blood vessels show through. The baby’s head equals to half the baby's body.
The baby's head will slow down so the rest of the body can catch up. The baby
can open up it's jaw and the ears are moving to it's final position. The Iris
part will start to form and the eyelids will temporarily shut. If the baby is a
girl the vagina will begin to develop. If it's a boy the penis is starting to
develop. It will take 3 more weeks for the genitalia to complete developing.
The baby will start to stretch and move more as the body becomes more
developed. As the diaphragm continues to develop, your baby may begin to get
hiccups which you might not feel until week 16-20. The baby may not start to
open and close it's fists. Characteristics of the parents such as facial
expressions will now be similar.
