13 Weeks Pregnant
This is the last week of your first trimester which means good news. The rate of
having a miscarriage is reduced and the early symptoms of morning sickness and
nausea decreases. You breasts may start creating the nutrit rich fluid that
will feed your baby a few days after giving birth. Energy levels may increase
but it’s still a good idea to get as much rest for yourself and your baby as
you can. This may be a good time to enjoy a special date to celebrate
completing the first trimester. Right now your body is working hard. You may
experience pain in the abdominal area because your uterus is stretching to
accommodate your growing uterus. Be on the look out for tremendous heartburn as
some have experienced it around this time. Talk to your doctor before taking
any type of heartburn medicine to avoid taking something dangerous for your
baby. Some women around this time may start bleeding. Consult your doctor on
what to do and if you should be concerned.
Your Baby At 13 Weeks
While your baby is still really tiny, your belly may announce that you’re
expecting. Tiny villi will now form in the intestines. In the middle of the
week the baby’s teeth and sockets will be formed in the gums. Vocal cords will
start to form but no sound can be heard. The baby’s eyes will move closer and
the ears will be at a normal position. The baby’s fingerprints are now in
place. Your baby at the moment weighs about an ounce and is only 3 inches long.
If you could look at the baby’s genitals you could determine the sex but the
ultrasound can’t conclude until week 16. In the second trimester many of the
baby’s important development will be completed.
