22 Weeks Pregnant
This week, both you and your baby will experience further weight gain, and you
may find yourself uncomfortable during prolonged sessions of sitting or
standing. You may also find yourself needing more of two things – food and sex.
We will examine the reasons for this, and also check in on the status of your
baby.
Week 22 Looks & Smarts
Your baby now tips the scales at close to one pound, and measures approximately
12 to 13 inches. Your baby is maturing nicely, and is starting to look more and
more like the baby you will deliver. Eyebrows and eyelids are among the new
features your baby has formed this week, and in addition the brain is beginning
to rapidly develop. Although still quite thin, your baby’s head is now in
proportion with the rest of the body, and your baby can now hear most any sound
outside of the uterus. So be sure to keep talking to your baby as your voice
has a calming effect.
Sexual Healing
As you continue to gain weight in tandem with your baby, it is crucial that you
maintain the healthy diet you have been adhering to. Vegetables, calcium, and
protein are all important from here on out, as is keeping an eye on your intake
of fats and sugars. Remember that you are responsible for your baby’s diet, and
it is crucial at this stage to foster continued growth. A solid diet
accomplishes this. In addition to eating, you may also find yourself in the
mood for loving as well this week. Sexually, your body is primed due to a few
factors. Your vagina has increased lubrication, and there is also a larger
blood flow to your clitoris. Factor in your natural hormonal shifts, and this
week may find you feeling extra frisky. Remember, if you are having a healthy
pregnancy, sex will pose no threat to either you or the baby.
Looking Forward In Your Pregnancy
As you continue looking towards the weeks to come, keep in mind that your mood
will invariably shift. You should go easy on yourself during these times, and
be sure to cut yourself plenty of slack. After all, you are carrying another
human, and your body is doing some pretty incredible things. Keep focused on
taking care of you and your baby, and know that it will all be worth it on
delivery day.
