24 Weeks Pregnant

You have a strong appetite this week, as your baby’s body is filling out and putting on weight. Still confused as to what snack on when hunger pangs hit? We will take a look at some sensible snacks that are good for you and your baby, and also look in on the progress your little one is making.

REMarkable Changes 24 Weeks Pregnant

Your baby has gained another 6 ounces this week, and measures just over 13 inches long. Your baby’s body is continuing to take shape, as muscles, organs, and tissue are all rapidly developing. Your baby is also exhibiting REM, or rapid eye movement. While opening and closing eyes often, your baby remains a bundle of energy, and will continue to move around quite a bit.

Eating For Two

This week, in addition to experiencing similar symptoms of the past few weeks, you may start to notice the appearance of stretch marks. These will eventually fade after the delivery, and are a normal part of any pregnancy. You may also be forming a linea negra, which is the dark line visible between your navel and your pubic bone. This too will fade after you give birth, in most cases disappearing completely. As your battle scars begin to increase, so too does your appetite. You will find yourself hungry often during this and future weeks, and may be wondering how to curb these urges while still staying healthy. By limiting snacks to such foods as cheeses, fruits, veggies, and yogurt, you will be doing both you and your baby a favor. Your baby gets the nutrients and calcium essential to growth, and you satisfy your hunger without experiencing a hint of guilt. It’s a win/win situation!

Looking Forward In Your Pregnancy

Your baby is really growing at a rapid pace now, and in the weeks to come you may start to experience some pain in your back and legs. These pains are caused by your uterus placing stress upon your back and pelvis. To help alleviate this discomfort, try taking a rest or a warm bath. You’re doing great, and it is only a few short weeks until you enter your third and final trimester!
