25 Weeks Pregnant
This week finds your baby’s body hard at work, while you should be taking it
easy. Your main focus should be providing your baby with the proper nutrition,
and keeping up with a mild exercise routine to help prepare you for delivery.
We will take a look at all the activity surrounding your baby this week, and
also give you a few tips on how to unwind.
Week 25 Hard At Work
Your baby now weighs about 1 ½ pounds, while measuring between 13 and 13 ½
inches long. Your baby now has a well-proportioned head and body, as the brain
is continuing its rapid growth. Your baby’s ears have completed development,
and can hear you anytime you speak, sing, or laugh. These sounds are very
soothing to the baby, so be sure to keep your little one entertained! As if
this wasn’t enough excitement, your baby’s spinal structure is beginning to
form, blood vessels in the lungs are being produced, and the nostrils are
slowly starting to open! Phew! No wonder both you and the baby are exhausted.
There’s a lot going on inside that little world, and all of it is contributing
to create your own unique, wonderful child!
Be Good To Yourself
This week finds you slightly uncomfortable, as you may experience some back and
leg pain as well as some itching around your abdomen. Both of these symptoms
are caused by your ever expanding uterus, and can be alleviated in a few ways.
For the itchiness around your midsection, try using some lotion or cocoa
butter, which should help soothe the area. To help combat your back and leg
pain, try lying down or applying ice to the area. These two modes of relaxation
should provide some relief. As your body is working hard to fuel your baby’s
activity, you may find yourself feeling tired often. Listen to your body, and
be sure to relax when you start feeling fatigued. Light a candle, read a book,
or run a bath when you need a break. In fact, why not do all three in
conjunction? Be sure to treat yourself well, as your body is working hard and
you deserve it!
Looking Forward In Your Pregnancy
Your uterus may tighten and then relax in the weeks to come. These contractions
are not the “main event”, but they are important in preparing your body for
delivery day. Next week, we will look at these contractions, commonly known as
“Braxton Hicks” contractions, and examine how they are beneficial to you and
your baby. In addition, we will also check in with your baby as the miraculous
growth process continues.
