30 Weeks Pregnant
As the mother-to-be you will feel bigger, slower and clumsier. Your center of
gravity is being thrown off now. Its important to get lots of rest and keep
your feet elevated whenever you can. Exercise in short increments. A brief walk
or a short time spent wading or swimming in the pool will help you feel better
and you will have fewer complications during the remainder of your pregnancy
and in delivery. Many pre and post-pregnancy exercise programs are available
through live classes and videotapes. Relaxation techniques, such as the
breathing you will learn in your prenatal class, can help to relieve stress.
Braxton Hicks Begin
This week you may start to feel your Braxton Hicks contractions. These are the
“fake” contractions. They don’t hurt but may cause you to be a little
uncomfortable. The baby can feel the squeeze through the uterus, but it doesn’t
hurt it either. Because of various levels of pain tolerance, some women never
feel these contractions. One sure way to tell if it is a real contraction is
that they start with a cramp in the lower back and work towards your abdomen.
Braxton Hicks contraction are only felt in your belly.
Daily Rhythms
The bay is now settling into a daily routine. It feeds off of the rhythm in your
body. These are the moments when bonding takes place, even before the baby is
born. It is closely attached to you in many ways. It has predictable patterns
of sleep and awake time and is most active when you are asleep. It is curled up
in the fetal position at this point. You may feel your baby hiccup frequently
as it takes amniotic fluid in the wrong pipe. Fat deposits continue. Your baby
now measures 3 lbs and 10.8 inches.
