3 Weeks Pregnant
Rapid Changes mark the first few weeks of pregnancy. By the third week, you are
officially pregnant. At this point you will notice your period is late and can
verify your pregnancy with a simple home pregnancy test.
Connection is Made
A single cell has developed into a cluster of hundreds. The cells group together
and form the embryo and the surrounding structure in the womb. The ball of
cells then attaches to the uterine wall and is sealed in. Mother and child are
firmly connected and the initial bonding takes place, long before the baby can
be seen or heard.
Invest in Support
You may start to experience another tell tale sign of pregnancy this week:
tender breasts. Your breasts will grow heavy and may become sensitive as they
prepare for their role in the bay’s development later on. It is a good idea to
invest in a good support bra that is adjustable and will last throughout your
pregnancy.
Morning Sickness
We couldn’t talk about pregnancy without mentioning the number one complaint of
pregnant women: morning sickness. Some women have this dreaded experience of
feeling nauseous and throwing up through most of their pregnancy, while others
can consider themselves lucky not to be plagued by it. One thing that may help
is to avoid overeating. Having frequent smaller meals spread throughout the day
is the best plan. Crackers may also take the edge off, especially first thing
in the morning, though morning sickness doesn’t happen exclusively in the AM.
Keeping a sleeve of saltines in your bedside table can provide a quick fix for
your morning woes.
Note which foods tend to trigger your nausea and avoid them as much as possible.
Its also a good idea to avoid consuming empty calories and undercooked meats.
