Early pregnancy symptoms
Those couples who are trying hard to get pregnant should always be on the alert
for the earliest symptoms of pregnancy. The earlier a pregnancy is identified,
the earlier that all important prenatal care and planning can begin. The signs
of early stages of pregnancy can often be subtle and easy to miss. The most
important this is for the woman and her partner to be in tune with her body and
on the lookout for any changes that could indicate the early stages of
pregnancy.
Easily overlooked symptoms of early pregnancy
When thinking about some of the most common signs of early pregnancy, it is not
hard to understand why they are often overlooked or mistaken for other
conditions. Some of the classic signs of pregnancy are such vague symptoms as
tiredness, constipation and heartburn. Obviously these common conditions can be
caused by many things unrelated to pregnancy, and this is one of the reasons
these early symptoms are so often overlooked.
More obvious symptoms of early pregnancy
Of course the most common and easily recognized sign of pregnancy is a missed
menstrual period. Spotting is another common sign of early pregnancy, as is
frequent nausea, particularly in the morning. Other more subtle signs of early
pregnancy can include tender breasts, general fatigue and light headedness. Of
course every woman will experience early pregnancy differently. The absence of
these symptoms does not mean that pregnancy has not occurred. Conversely, any
or all of these symptoms can occur independent of pregnancy.
If a pregnancy is suspected
It is important for the potential expectant mother to move quickly if pregnancy
is suspected. Confirming a pregnancy quickly enables the mother to begin proper
prenatal issues take place before many women know they are pregnant, and proper
nutrition, particularly getting adequate levels of folic acid in the diet, can
greatly lessen the chance for complications later in pregnancy.
Confirming a suspected pregnancy
The many accurate home pregnancy tests on the market mean that confirming a
pregnancy has never been easier. It is important, however to know that these
tests can give false positives and false negatives, so it is important that any
home pregnancy test be followed up by a professional test at your doctor’s
office as soon as possible.
