Nutrition, Benefits of Eating Healthy
We all know that a healthy diet will make us look and feel better, but aren't
too excited about the work it takes to eat healthily every day. In order to
enjoy the full benefits of eating healthy every day, it's important to take
steps each day that will help you to see the rewards of a balanced diet. Here
are some tips that may help:
Nutrition Tip: Take it one day at a time
If you overwhelm yourself by trying to throw out all the junk food in one day.
Try to eliminate one unhealthy food from your diet per week, so that you'll be
more likely to accomplish your goal of having healthy diet permanently. And,
while you're eliminating foods, add something healthy that you already enjoy
eating to your diet. For instance, if you have a sweet tooth, add more fruits
to your diet that you already like to eat. Or, if you love potato chips, try to
buy them low fat. Once you get used to one healthy addition to your diet and
begin to feel better and have increased energy, you'll be more inclined to
stick to a diet that is beneficial for you.
Nutrition Tip: Keep a journal of your progress
Document the positive changes that you make physically and mentally once you
start eating healthier. A healthy diet can help to reduce fatigue, induce
weight loss, and improve skin health, so when you notice these things, be sure
to write them down. This way, you can see how far you've come, and how well
your new diet is really 'working.' This will also motivate you to discover new
benefits of eating healthy, and will prove to you that you're on the right
track health-wise. You may not want to keep a journal every day, but every few
days, when you notice something different, make sure that you write it down.
Every few weeks, look over your journal entries to see the strides you've made,
and to write down new fitness goals.
Nutrition Tip: Don't be afraid to ask for help
One of the best ways to make sure that you continue to eat healthy is to ask
your friends and family for support. Let your loved ones know that you're
trying to eat healthier, so that they can help you to resist the temptation to
eat too much at parties or family gatherings. You can also ask your friends and
family for recipe ideas, so that you can come up with creative ways to make
eating healthy tasty and enjoyable. You may even want to ask a friend to
exercise with you, so that you can reap all the benefits of a healthy diet;
since you'll have more energy, you'll be more prone to work out, and you
probably won't regress on your diet when you start to see and feel some real
changes in your body. However, eating healthy will still take some commitment
on your part. When your loved ones see that you're serious about trying to
change your diet, they'll be much more likely to step in and help, and may even
ask you for pointers.
