Washington DC is home to both the Board of Pharmacy and Howard University, a pharmaceutical training school. The Washington State Pharmacy Association also governs it. Each of these entities ensures that Washington DC will receive the best pharmacy care possible. Washing DC Board of Pharmacy

This board encourages pharmacies to comply with state and federal drug laws. It is aware that e-commerce is changing the business and all of the laws associated with pharmacy. The board of Pharmacy mandates that each Washington DC pharmacist stay on top of any changes in the industry. Pharmacists have a big responsibility to their clients to keep them safe and to follow the rules set up to keep the safest of business practices within the pharmacy.

Howard University, School of Pharmacy

Established in 1868, this four-year degree program offers a Doctor of Pharmacy program as well as graduate degree programs. Candidates entering these programs must have a Bachelor’s Degree in biomedical science or a similar field. Howard University has a strict admission policy and even those who do qualify are not automatically admitted to the School of Pharmacy.

Washington State Pharmacy Association

The association works to ensure excellence in pharmaceutical care throughout the state. Public health is their main focus. It also works to reduce prescription drug errors and improve the overall performance of pharmacists.
